Swoony Boys Podcast

Podcast Notes

Please note! We recorded this podcast at the beginning of December, so just in case we read something else from 2018 that trumps one of these books, we totally reserve the right to change our minds.

We kick things off with some stats, including how many books and audiobooks we read (and re-read) this year and our most-read genres, which surprised one of us.

Then we talk about our favorite books we read in 2018 and the books we were excited about but didn't love as much as we anticipated.

We dished surprising books--either in a good way or a bad way and the books we pushed the hardest.

We talked about our favorite newly discovered authors in 2018 and our faves that put us out of our comfort zones.

We broke down the most action-packed thrilling reads of the year as the books that we will definitely have on our re-read lists in 2019.

We discussed favorite covers, memorable characters, and books we couldn't believe we waited until this year to finally dive into.

We talked about the books that shocked us and our OTPs of the year.

We switched things up to the best non-romantic relationships, friendships, and bromances.

Then we focused on our favorite books this year from authors we already know and love.

Next we chatted about peer pressure and the best books we read in 2018 that someone else told us to read.

You know us. We brought it back to the swoon with our newest crushes from books we read this year and then talked about our favorite debuts.

We discussed the books that were the most fun to read and put the biggest smiles on our faces 😁 and the hidden gems of the year.

We revealed the books we read this year that made us the maddest and the books we didn't get to this year but will be our NUMBER 1 Priorities in 2019.

We wrapped it up with the 2019 books and sequels that we're most anticipating.

Thank you for listening. We hope you have a Merry Christmas and the best year ever in 2019! ❤️❤️❤️

We let you know our favorite boys this summer, beginning with Erin's picks: Elias Veturius from A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir and Alex Quinn from The Traitor’s Ruin by Erin Beatty.

Kassiah is up next with her faves: Cedric from Finding Himself by Minisinoo (Harry Potter Fanfiction) and Jesse from Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry.

Jaime shocks us all by narrowing down to just four five boys: Donovan from Fame, Fate and the First Kiss by Kasie West, Max from A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna, Peter and Asher from The Fixer by Jenn Lynn Barnes, and Jamie Aldridge from Invisible Ghosts by Robyn Schneider.

Meg surprises us a little bit with one of her selections: Jase from Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson (where we get off on a slight Jase tangent), and she keeps it 100 with Gabe from 9 Days and 9 Nights by Katie Cotugno.

We follow up our favorite boys of summer with our favorite HOTTIES of the MONTH: Jaime's Man Ham: LIAM from Boy Toy by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby, Kassiah's Pick: Colin Fitzgerald (aka Fitzy) from The Chase by Elle Kennedy, Erin's Hotties: Cardan from The Wicked King by Holly Black and Lord Carlston from The Dark Days Deceit by Alison Goodman, and Meg's Catch: Peter K from To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han.

Let's be real. We dish all things Peter K for awhile. And why wouldn't we?

We finish up with our Honorable Mentions.

We start off with a debate on whether or not "y'all" should be used by everyone. Spoiler alert: It should.

Susan Dennard gives us her elevator pitch for the Witchlands series.

We find out where the idea for the series came from and what a typical writing day looks like for Susan.

Susan shares her writing process and what the publication process is like for her.

We chat about what it was like to go back to the beginning with Sightwitch and Susan shares some fun secrets.

Susan tells us her favorite part about writing in the YA Fantasy genre--and the most difficult parts.

We find out if there were any scenes cut in Sightwitch and who she would introduce her characters to if she could introduce them to any other author's characters.

Susan tells us two truths and a lie about herself, and we have to guess which is the lie. We're still losers. 😆

We find out what advice Susan would give to her 17-year-old self.

Susan shares her most-anticipated upcoming (at the time of recording) new releases, a few of her go-to re-reads, and her favorite swoony boys.

We wrap things up with a fun Word Association Game
